Capital Area Golf Tour Member Alexandra Austin has been selected by the Virginia State Golf Association to play on The Virginia Girls Team for the 12th Virginia-Maryland Junior Girls' Team Matches, scheduled to be played on July 10 and 11 at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland.  Selection to these teams is a high honor to the young women who are afforded the opportunity to participate in this prestigious competition.  Players are selected based upon their golf resume and overall performance.

Played in a format somewhat similar to the Solheim Cup, eight-player teams compete in four-ball and singles matches with each team earning a point for winning each of the matches.  Total points determine the victor in the competition between Team Maryland and Team Virginia.

Austin, a rising senior at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, Virginia, placed seventh at the Virginia High School Girls championship at Kempsville Greens in Virginia Beach firing rounds of 77 and 78 for a two-day total of 155.  Austin was also the low female scorer at this spring's CAGT Fairfax Open.
